I got published! I went along to the BSHS 25th Birthday event on behalf of the Glasshouse Country and Maleny News. The following piece is what I sent into the paper which you can find in the November 2nd edition here. I also did an out and about photo section which you can also check out here.

Last Saturday marked the 25th anniversary of Beerwah State High School. To commemorate the school held its very own event full of fun and sentiment.

It was an opportunity to reminisce on fond memories made at Beerwah, regardless of whether you graduated three years ago or was part of the foundation teaching staff in 1992.

There was live music, dance performances and drama skits showcasing the very talented students. From this alone it was easy to see why the school has had so much success over the past quarter of a century.

There is no doubt Beerwah High holds a special place in our community.

What makes it so distinctive is the emphasis on tradition. From Cheer Cup and Run the Corridors to the iconic Clap Out ceremony, this school is unique.

Former principles Boyd Jorgenson and Graham Trevenen both addressed this in their speeches and attributed tradition to the overall identity of Beerwah State High School.

“Beerwah is a wonderful school.

“We develop the whole student, whether it’s sporting, academic or cultural endeavours,” said Mr Trevenen.

Many hours were also spent tracking down former students in the hopes to create a “where are they now?” video compilation. What transpired was a beautifully crafted montage of hundreds of Beerwah graduates each expressing their admiration for their place of education.

Slightly aged photographs and black and white yearbooks were also on display, proudly showing the growth of the school.

P&C President Coralie Lillecrapp, who helped organise the anniversary, said it was a pleasure to be part of the event. She said it was important to be able to showcase the schools success and was extremely proud of its history.

Current Principle, Glen Robinson, expressed his enthusiasm for the future.

“I’m extremely honoured to have lead Beerwah State High School in 2016 and I’m looking forward to the years ahead."
