Hanson's At It Again

I am sure most of you have seen or at least heard about Pauline Hanson's senate speech (if you haven't I have embedded the entire half hour ordeal for your pleasure).
The most thrilling or indeed disgusting things she mentioned were similar to her maiden speech back in 1996, although she has swapped Asians for Muslims. The One Nation senator warned Australia is at risk of being "swamped by Muslims". She then went on to state that those who can not respect and conform to being Australian should go back to where they came from.
It has, understandably, caused a lot of backlash which makes for very interesting reading. In fact as I was deciding on what to write about this week I came across a few of my own Facebook friends having a healthy debate about it. As much as she is controversial I think she does start some quality conversations. I am in no way agreeing or disagreeing with certain aspects of her speech but want to focus on the positive discussions Australians are having as a result of her outlandish views.
She raises certain questions about racism and what it means to be Australian, which resonates with everyone living here. I think that's what makes her views so controversial because she not only divides the nation but brings us together in our opinions.
Testment to his contrarian approach, The Project's Waleed Aly rejoiced in the idea of "free taxi rides". Jokes aside he agreed with members of the Greens walking out believing that whist he understands that there is a political element to what their doing, it was the first sign that anyone had his back.
