Doing It For Yourself

As someone who loves “me” time, I find it so important to take time in everyday to do a little something for myself (and no I’m not just talking about my half an hour of H&A). With Uni assessment piling up and your daily life becoming even more hectic, it’s often hard to make even ten minutes, but trust me when I say you and your work will be better for it.

Personally, I find it extremely uplifting to box. This involves about an hour or so of intense cardio and the pleasure of hitting my Dad (or Lyn, who is crazy fit and is responsible for the extreme workouts). Let’s just say I sweat a lot, not at all flattering but worth it nonetheless! In fact typing this blog post has become a little painful as a result of yesterday’s session and don’t get me started with the effort it takes to shampoo my hair.
I’ve probably been doing it, at least weekly, for about a year and can honestly say that I feel much better after every workout. It’s a sport that I enjoy and I think that is the first step. You have to find something that you look forward to. Through boxing I not only punch through the day’s frustrations but also have a clear mind when stepping back into my assessment. It’s an exercise that benefits my overall attitude, having an effect on how I tackle more challenging aspects of my life.
I would highly recommend taking up a sport that you enjoy, one that gives you time to think through your anger and push it out in a healthy way. There is nothing worse than keeping stuff bottled up in your head. Boxing has really become an important part of my life now and I really look forward to it.
And just as this post comes to an end I have got confirmation of our next session, I’ll be sure to give that extra effort.
