Thoughts for Today...

Whilst I procrastinate packing my suitcase for my weekend at my grandparents, I thought I should dive into this whole world of blogging. Yeah, I'm studying journalism and I did originally create this site for an assignment. But, I have been giving it quite a lot of thought lately. I want to get into the regular habit of coming here to voice my opinions on the dramatic issues of the world. I also want to use this, as a place to dream, reminisce on fond memories and share my life experiences. So to start I'm going to ramble about my first week of Uni 2016.

Monday, February 29th approx. 5:30am. Yes I really do get up that early to attend the sacred place known as QUT. I live on the Sunshine Coast which involves around 3-4 hours of transport daily on each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. But honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. I chose QUT knowing that sitting next to drug addicts and physco paths on the Caboolture train line would probably ruin my social status and potentially effect my life. Jokes aside, I often look forward to the couple of hours when my ears are filled with Keith Urban (and/or Taylor Swift depending on my mood) and my mind is somewhere else.

As a second year student I am accustomed to these early wake up calls, the 25 minute drive to the train station, the hour (if the heavens decide I can catch an express) train ride and the 5 minute bus trip where holding on for your life becomes all too literal. And there we have it, I had arrived far too early for my first lecture of 2016. Once I had paid my student services fees for the semester and bought an overly priced hot chocolate at the new complex in C Block, I was ready.

The rest of the week hit fast forward and by the time I had a chance to look at my phone and most importantly the news (very important for my weekly current affairs tests that are all to crucial to pass Journalistic Inquiry) I was back at the train station. However, I still had plenty of time to stress about upcoming assessment, spend far too much money on food, make-up and books and start 'tweeting' (yeah I finally joined Twitter). All in all, QUT hasn't changed much since October and I still haven't realised that stress doesn't help anything but I am back doing what I love most. Studying the field that I hope will become my career.
