The Banner

I thought long and hard about how I wanted to represent myself through my blog's banner. Stemming from my love of makeup, I decided to use an image of my very own makeup brushes. The photo itself is extremely vibrant as the pink of the background draws the audiences attention immediately. The lighting is also very bright and the use of the dissolved background draws specific attention to the larger brushes in the foreground. The angle also adds to the photograph as the audience is at eye level with the makeup brushes, this was intentional as I wanted my audience to feel engaged with the image. Furthermore, this aspect depicts my persona as I want my future employer and client to feel my genuine passion when it comes to beauty and journalism.
At first I considered altering the original image into black and white in order to keep with the very clean and simple colour scheme. However, after trialling this decided I wanted my personality to shine through the choice of images on my blog. I believe this image represents me: fun and bubbly with a sense of sophistication and class.
Throughout this blog I also used all of my own images to capture exactely what I wanted to say. This not only solved this issue of copyright but let me show off another skill needed for journalists. As the industry changes, professionals are needing to become far more versatile. I tried to display that I have another skill through photography and that this aspect could help me secure my dream job at Vogue.
